Our favorite living golfers include: Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Greg Norman, Gary Player, Tom Watson, Ernie Els, Davis Love III, Justin Leonard, Jason Day, Rory Mcilroy, Adam Scott, Jordan Spieth, and The Golden Bear—Jack Nicklaus.
When it comes to records at the majors, Jack and Tiger are in a class by themselves (with Jack being at the top). Tiger has set tons of records of his own, and beaten many of Jack’s records.
I’d like to see Tiger beat Jack’s record and that would make him thee undisputed greatest of all time. Next up I’d like to see Phil Mickelson win the US Open for his career grand slam. I’d like to see Rory win The Masters for his career grand slam, and Jordan win the PGA for his.
If I could only pick one golfer to be my favorite of all time, it would have to be Arnold Palmer (although his playing career was completely before my time). He loved golf, flying, women, his fans, his business enterprises, and was all heart. He was a bold and dashing man, and a romantic. I didn’t start following golf until the 90s, and by then I’d already missed Sam Snead, who I would have enjoyed watching. I’m also a big fan of Gary Player. He is a gifted player, a distinguished champion, and a fine gentleman.
I’d never heard of Harvey Penick until after he passed away, and the same with John Jacobs. But, their fine teaching lives on. Butch Harmon carries the torch for all of us now, and I hope to study with him in person one day soon.
So, what does it all mean?
I believe in keeping it simple. I want to make sure that the people who rely on me to improve their golf game have a correct understanding of cause and effect, what works, what doesn’t work, how to get results that stick, and how to make dramatic and swift improvements (by evaluating their whole game and making the most of their natural abilities).
I like to ensure that my golfers start playing better right now, and by extension get more enjoyment and satisfaction out of their game. At the same time, that they no longer waste their precious time, money, and effort on things that are counterproductive or simply don’t work. Golf is challenging enough without making it harder than it needs to be.
We are dedicated to helping our clients get amazing results fast, and enjoy long term improvement (results that stick).
I’d like to add that I have been influenced by all the great golf movies out there. My favorite is The Legend of Bagger Vance, followed closely by Tin Cup. Thankfully I can watch both. I also enjoyed Happy Gilmore, A Gentleman’s Game, Follow The Sun, The Greatest Game Ever Played, Bobby Jones: Stroke of Genius, Tommy’s Honour, and Dead Solid Perfect.
